
Free Natural History Museum ABC Trail
This summer, step into a magical adventure through the natural world at our free Natural History Museum ABC Trail!
From 20th July to 9th September, little explorers and grown-up nature lovers alike are invited to discover the wonders of life on Earth from A to Z in an interactive trail across Westgate Oxford. Take part in hands-on activities, learn eye-opening facts, and enhance your knowledge of the weird and wonderful natural world.
From animals to ancient fossils, the trail brings the collections of the Natural History Museum to life through 26 fascinating installations, inspired by their specimens and expertise – one for each letter of the alphabet!
Here’s how to get involved:

Head to the ABC Trail welcome sign in Leiden Square to find all the information you need.

Pick up a free trail leaflet from our Guest Services Desk, located next to JD Sports on the Upper Ground Floor.

Follow the trail map around the centre, tick off each of the 26 natural wonder installations, and take part in immersive activities as you go!
At each stop along the trail, you’ll have the chance to get involved in fun activities to get you interacting with the natural world. Whether you prefer doing, thinking or discovering, there’s something to suit everyone. Look out for the symbols below:
